Tim Tszyu is ready to turn up the heat this summer. The Australian slugger sat down with boxing media to break down his highly anticipated July 26 showdown against Errol Spence at a 158 lb catchweight, and he didn't hold back on what fans can expect.
"I bring the heat," Tszyu declared. "As much as I try to jab, move a little bit, box — yeah, I am a forward-type guy. That's what I plan to do this fight."
Tszyu, who has been on a tear in recent years, is confident his relentless pressure will be too much for Spence, who returns after a three-year layoff. "I've got plenty in the tank. I've learned a lot, experienced a lot in the last three or four years," Tszyu said, hinting at the growth that has made him a more complete fighter.
The Aussie contender left no doubt about his mindset. "100% I wouldn't take this fight if I thought I was going to lose. If I had a little glimpse of losing, I would have said 'you know what, maybe I'm not ready.' I'm taking this fight because I know I'm going to win."
Drawing from his past battles, Tszyu sees similarities between Spence and his previous opponent, Sebastian Fundora. "I sort of understood that from Fundora. He throws a sh-tload of punches, as well. Southpaw. Errol Spence will just be maybe easier to hit, not as tall. Just going to be a different game plan this time around."
The message is clear: Tszyu plans to come out firing from the opening bell. "I'm going to bring the heat from round 1. He's the one that's had three years off. I'm not rusty, my wheels have been in motion. So I'll be ready to jump on him."
With both fighters promising fireworks, this catchweight clash is shaping up to be one of the summer's must-watch events. For Tszyu, it's all about proving he belongs among boxing's elite — and he's ready to do it in style.
