The Tampa Bay Lightning and Montreal Canadiens meet Sunday for Game 4 of their first-round playoff series, with Montreal holding a 2–1 lead after three straight overtime games.

This series has been one of the most competitive in the opening round, with all three games going to overtime. Montreal struck first with a 4–3 OT win in Game 1 behind Juraj Slafkovský’s hat trick, before Tampa Bay answered in Game 2 with a 3–2 OT victory.
The back-and-forth continued in Game 3, where the Canadiens edged the Lightning 3–2 in overtime once again to take control of the series.
Game 3 saw Lane Hutson score the overtime winner, while Montreal’s depth played a key role with Kirby Dach and others contributing offensively. The Canadiens also carried momentum late, outshooting Tampa Bay heavily in the third period before finishing the job in OT. Tampa Bay, meanwhile, got goals from Brayden Point and Brandon Hagel but continues to struggle closing out tight games despite strong goaltending from Andrei Vasilevskiy.
Game 4 now becomes a true swing point. Montreal can take a commanding 3–1 lead on home ice, while Tampa Bay needs a response to avoid falling into a near-elimination hole in what has been one of the tightest, most evenly matched series of the playoffs.
