Roma's dramatic turnaround has put Champions League qualification firmly within reach—a scenario that seemed impossible just weeks ago. While Milan's recent struggles have opened the door, the Giallorossi are now setting their sights high, with a marquee attacking target on their radar.
According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, that target is Manchester United's Mason Greenwood. Manager Gian Piero Gasperini believes the young forward could form a lethal partnership with Donyell Malen, and he's made his desire to strengthen the attack clear to the Friedkin ownership. If Roma secure a top-four finish, a move for Greenwood becomes challenging but far from impossible.
Financial flexibility could come from player sales. Matias Soule is attracting interest from Aston Villa, while Manu Kone could land at Inter. Gasperini wouldn't mind seeing them go, especially with Greenwood—currently valued at €50 million by Marseille—seen as a transformative addition to Roma's frontline. The clubs share a good relationship, too, following Robinho Vaz's January move to Rome, which could smooth negotiations.
However, any discussion of Greenwood inevitably brings up the elephant in the room. His off-field baggage is impossible to ignore, and for a club like Roma, it's a controversy they can easily avoid. There are also lingering questions about his attitude, which may not mesh well with Gasperini's own divisive personality. Adding another polarizing figure to the dressing room could create more friction than fireworks.
