In the world of football, success often comes down to the smallest details—and for Inverness Caledonian Thistle, that meant fixing the shower heads. Yes, you read that right. Owner Alan Savage credits these "simple things" as part of the club's remarkable turnaround from financial ruin to League One champions.

Just a year ago, ICT was in dire straits. Placed into administration in October 2024 after racking up millions in debt, the club faced the very real threat of liquidation. Enter Alan Savage, a former chairman from 2006 to 2008, who stepped in with an initial £1 million injection of funding. By September last year, the club had exited administration, and the rebuilding began.

"It was about reassuring the staff, fixing things like shower heads—simple things that had gone wrong," Savage recalled on BBC Radio Scotland's Breakfast programme. He emphasized that administration was the best way to "clean up" the club's debts, noting that "a few initiatives had gone south" and the club was on the brink.

But fixing shower heads was just the start. Savage's vision extended beyond the pitch. He's been working to make the club's stadium a hub of activity, positioning it as a starting point for the North Coast 500 tourist route and hosting music events. "We want more than one day a fortnight of football. We are trying to get life into the stadium every day of the week," he explained.

The hard work paid off in spectacular fashion on Saturday, as Inverness secured promotion to the Championship with a thrilling 2-1 win over Hamilton Academical. It's a story of resilience, strategic thinking, and the power of getting the basics right—from shower heads to stadium initiatives. For the Caley Jags, it's proof that sometimes, the smallest fixes lead to the biggest victories.
