Manu Koné has quietly established himself as one of Serie A's most dynamic midfielders over the past two seasons. His press-resistant style and defensive tenacity have made him a standout under Gian Piero Gasperini, even as he battles through minor injury setbacks. But now, financial turbulence at Roma threatens to cut his time in the Italian capital short.

According to Il Messaggero (via ForzaRoma), Roma are under serious scrutiny from UEFA over Financial Fair Play (FFP) compliance. The club needs to generate up to €80 million in capital gains by the end of June to avoid potential sanctions or fines. That pressure makes Koné—whose market value has soared since his 2024 arrival from Borussia Mönchengladbach—a prime candidate for a summer transfer.

Interest is already heating up. Inter Milan, who failed to land Koné last summer after Roma decided to keep him, are reportedly preparing another bid. But they face stiff competition from Paris Saint-Germain and Newcastle United. Inter, however, remain favorites, thanks to their Champions League qualification and the groundwork already laid in previous negotiations. Newcastle, sitting outside the Premier League's top half, lack that same pull.

There's even talk of a potential swap deal involving Davide Frattesi, who came through Roma's academy years ago. If that materializes, it could soften the blow of losing Koné while helping Roma balance the books. For now, the Frenchman's future hangs in the balance—and Serie A's midfield hierarchy may look very different come August.
