Florida A&M University is rallying its forces behind a powerful new initiative. The 'OneFAMU' project, a collaboration between the university's key Direct Support Organizations, has officially begun with its first steering committee meeting. This unified front aims to harness collective strength to propel the entire university forward, with athletics positioned as a major beneficiary.

The committee, featuring leaders from the FAMU Foundation, National Alumni Association, Rattler Boosters, and University Advancement, convened to strategize on boosting alumni engagement and giving. As trustee John Crossman emphasized, "FAMU has always been its strongest when Rattlers strike together." This spirit of unity is now being channeled into a concrete plan to support all aspects of the university.

A central focus of the discussion was elevating the athletic program. Vice President Brandi Tatum-Fedrick outlined a five-pillar strategy, with the final pillar, "One Alliance," dedicated explicitly to empowering the Rattler Boosters. The goal is to provide them with the modern tools and robust resources necessary to meet the demands of a competitive NCAA Division I program. "We want to ensure that we're doing everything in our power to bring them the right and proper type of resources," Tatum-Fedrick stated, highlighting a direct path to enhanced facilities, recruitment, and student-athlete support.

The initiative addresses a recognized challenge. Currently, FAMU's alumni giving rate trails behind the HBCU average. As Hall of Fame donor Rick Kinsey noted, overcoming "donor fatigue" requires a fresh, coordinated approach. Athletics Director John Davis agrees, pointing to the need for expanded outreach. By streamlining efforts and presenting a unified "OneFAMU" vision, the project aims to inspire broader participation, turning scattered support into a tidal wave of Rattler pride that lifts every team, from the gridiron to the basketball court.
