Big news out of Houston: Carlos Correa is done for the season. The Astros' star infielder needs surgery to repair a torn tendon in his left ankle, and the recovery timeline is 6 to 8 months. It's a tough blow for a team already navigating a tricky season.

According to Chandler Rome of The Athletic, Correa suffered the injury during batting practice on Tuesday. The three-time All-Star had been splitting time between shortstop (23 games) and third base (14 games) in 2025, posting a solid .279 average with three home runs, 16 RBIs, and a .787 OPS in 122 at-bats.

This changes everything for Houston's trade deadline plans. With Correa out, the Astros will likely lean on Isaac Paredes as their everyday third baseman. Paredes had been sharing time at first base with Christian Walker and was considered a potential trade chip, but now he becomes a necessity. He's hitting .261 with a .361 on-base percentage and a .752 OPS, showing he can handle regular playing time.

The bigger question is whether the Astros will pivot to selling at the deadline. Without Correa's bat and versatility in the infield, Houston's path forward looks uncertain. For now, Paredes steps into a full-time role, and the front office will need to rethink their strategy as the July 31 deadline approaches.
