IndyStar will be recognizing the top baseball player in Central Indiana with our players of the week poll. Voting closes Friday at noon.

From walk-off heroics to dominant pitching performances, last week’s high school baseball action in Central Indiana was nothing short of spectacular. Now, it's your turn to decide who stood out the most in the IndyStar Baseball Player of the Week poll for April 27 through May 2.

Voting is open until noon Friday, so scroll down and cast your ballot for the player who impressed you most. Last week’s winner, Hudson Stewart of Center Grove, set a high bar with a .600 batting average, two home runs, and six RBIs. This week’s nominees are ready to claim the spotlight.

Let’s break down the standout performances:

On the Mound: Shutouts and Strikeouts Galore
Pitching was the name of the game. One hurler delivered a complete-game shutout against Jac-Cen-Del, fanning 11 batters while surrendering just three hits over six innings. For the season, he boasts a pristine 0.00 ERA with 33 strikeouts in 18 frames—numbers that scream dominance.

Another sophomore ace matched that energy, tossing seven shutout innings against Perry Meridian with 12 strikeouts and only three hits allowed. Talk about a breakout performance.

Not to be outdone, a senior pitcher logged 8⅓ innings of one-run ball for the Falcons, striking out eight and walking just one. Meanwhile, a complete-game win over Carmel featured six strikeouts, zero walks, and a stingy four hits allowed. And a junior left-hander struck out 12 in a shutout of Greencastle, adding a home run at the plate for good measure.

At the Plate: Clutch Hits and Power Surges
Offense also shined bright. A sophomore batter posted a .571 average (4-for-7) with four RBIs, including a walk-off double against Plainfield that sealed a 5-4 victory for Decatur Central. That's the kind of moment that makes high school baseball unforgettable.

Another senior slugger hit .500 with eight RBIs, a double, a triple, and a stolen base, while also contributing on the mound with four strikeouts over three innings. Versatility at its finest.

With homers, gems, and steals filling the stat sheets, this week’s poll is loaded with talent. Whether you’re a fan of power hitting or precision pitching, there’s a nominee for you. Make your voice heard before the deadline—who’s your player of the week?
