The ball kept flying out at CHS Field in St. Paul on Wednesday, but the St. Paul Saints didn’t have enough offense to beat the Iowa Cubs.

Kyler Fedko homered for the second straight day, Aaron Sabato added his second home run of the season but St. Paul lost 11-4. The Saints had seven hits, while Iowa had a pair of two-run homers in a 14-hit attack.

The Cubs scored at least one run in the second through seventh innings, erasing what was once a 3-1 Saints’ lead.

After Iowa opened the scoring in the top of the second inning, St. Paul scored three times in the bottom of the inning. Emmanuel Rodriguez had an RBI single and Fedko followed through with a two-run homer, his seventh of the season.

St. Paul’s pitching couldn’t hold the lead.

Ryan Gallagher started on the mound and gave up three runs on five hits and three walks in three innings pitched. Marco Raya (0-3) surrendered three runs in two innings. Travis Adams was charged with three runs allowed on two hits and two walks while getting just one out. Dan Altavilla gave up two runs in his 1 1/3 innings.

Sabato closed out the scoring with his homer in the seventh.

The two teams resume the series at 6:37 p.m. CDT on Thursday.
