While Helena secured the team sweep at the MCPS Invite in Missoula, the spotlight shone brightly on the athletes from the Northwest Valley, who delivered some of the meet's most impressive performances.

Flathead emerged as the top Valley contender, with the boys team finishing sixth and the girls securing a strong third-place podium spot. Whitefish and Columbia Falls also turned in solid team efforts across the board, showcasing the depth of talent in the region.

The day belonged to Flathead's William Hollensteiner, who blazed to victory in the 100 meters with a time of 10.81. That mark not only won the race but instantly established him as a serious state title contender, ranking him third in Class AA this season.

Flathead's strength wasn't limited to the sprints. The Braves dominated the distance events, with Carson Thorne winning the 3,200 and teammate Christopher Holland close behind. Their times now rank fifth and sixth in Class AA, proving their endurance is as potent as their speed.

Adding to the highlight reel was Brett Chivers, who stormed to victory in the 300-meter hurdles. His winning time of 39.71 is the second-fastest in Class AA this year, a testament to his technical skill and power.

Whitefish made its mark through Colby Minton, who powered to a win in the 400 meters with the second-best time in Class A this season. On the girls' side, Ginger Bergland was a force in the hurdles, claiming gold in the 300m and bronze in the 100m.

Columbia Falls excelled in the field events, led by senior Joe West. He launched a personal-best javelin throw of 166 feet, a mark that ranks second in Class A and underscores the explosive power required for success in track and field.
