Edinburgh Rugby has secured a major boost ahead of the new season, with experienced prop Paul Hill signing a fresh two-year contract extension. The 31-year-old England international has quickly become a cornerstone of the club's front row since his arrival from Northampton Saints in 2024.
Hill's commitment marks the latest in a series of key re-signings for the Scottish side, joining fellow senior players Grant Gilchrist and Mosese Tuipulotu in pledging their futures to the club. The move also underscores Edinburgh's focus on building a balanced squad, with academy talents Hector Patterson, Jack Brown, and Jerry Blyth-Lafferty having recently signed professional deals.
"Edinburgh feels like home now – and that's not something I say lightly," Hill said. "This club, this city, the way the squad is being built by Sean [Everitt] – everything about it sits right with me. I'm really happy playing my rugby here, and that happiness hopefully shows on the pitch."
With over a decade of professional experience, Hill brings invaluable leadership to a relatively young Edinburgh pack. He acknowledged the responsibility that comes with his veteran status, adding, "I'm aware that I'm one of the more experienced players in the group, and I take that responsibility seriously. Helping bring through the next generation of props is something I genuinely care about."
Despite his tenure in the game, Hill insists his competitive fire hasn't dimmed. "But I want to be clear, I'm still so hungry. I want to win things with this club. The way we're building here and the ambition in this squad excites me, and I want to be right at the heart of it."
For Edinburgh supporters, Hill's extension is a statement of intent: a proven international prop who could have played anywhere has chosen to stay and help build something special in the Scottish capital. As the club continues to blend experience with emerging talent, Hill's presence in the engine room will be crucial to their ambitions in both the United Rugby Championship and European competitions.
