Australian sensation Toby Deudney just announced his arrival in a major way. The 20-year-old bareback rider from Tumut, New South Wales, secured the biggest victory of his young career this past Saturday, conquering the San Angelo Cinch Chute-Out in Texas with a monumental 93-point ride.
The key to his historic win? A legendary dance partner. Deudney drew Pickett Pro Rodeo’s Night Crawler, the reigning and two-time PRCA Bareback Horse of the Year. This electric bay mare is a known giant-slayer, having been featured in the elite "TV pen" at the National Finals Rodeo and responsible for over a dozen 90-point scores. Deudney's 93-point masterpiece now sits among them, earning him the event title and a $7,500 payday.
"I had the best time ever in San Angelo," an elated Deudney told The Cowboy Channel. "I won’t forget it." The win is a massive boost for the Odessa College student, who entered the weekend ranked second in the Caprock Region's intercollegiate standings. This victory provides crucial momentum as he aims for a top-three regional finish to qualify for the College National Finals Rodeo in June.
Deudney's breakout performance is a testament to his rapid ascent. After competing on his permit in 2025, he earned his PRCA card this year. Prior to San Angelo, he sat seventh in the Resistol Rookie of the Year race; this win should propel him solidly into the top five.
His championship ride set an early bar that no one could match during the clean-slate chute-out final. Going first against the legendary Night Crawler—a horse that has carried stars like Cooper Cook, Dean Thompson, and Leighton Berry to huge scores—Deudney didn't just compete; he dominated, showcasing the grit and skill that defines the next generation of rodeo champions.
