In a thrilling display of teamwork and championship grit, Maeser Prep soared to a commanding 3-0 victory over Rowland Hall in the 2A state final, securing back-to-back state titles and capping off a perfect 20-0 season. The match, held Monday at Zions Bank Stadium, was a testament to the Lions' unwavering chemistry and defensive dominance.

The defining moment came in the 58th minute, when senior Kale Garner connected on a perfectly placed corner kick from teammate Noah Johnson, heading the ball into the net to seal the win. As the crowd erupted, Garner rushed to Johnson, clutching his head and shouting, "I love you, man!" It was a fitting celebration for two players who have been inseparable on and off the field since seventh grade. "When we came in, the first week we became friends, started playing soccer together, and now here we are, state championship our senior year," Garner reflected. "Six years in a row, me and Noah just putting the dagger in."

The Lions set the tone early. Tyler Reedy opened the scoring in the 30th minute, and Johnson doubled the lead just five minutes into the second half with a goal that sparked an exuberant celebration—complete with a yellow card for ripping off his shirt and waving it like a rally towel. Garner's header then put the game out of reach, capping a dominant performance that saw Maeser Prep allow just one playoff goal in four matches.

Coach Dustin Simmons praised his team's historic achievement, revealing he read a heartfelt letter to players on the bus before the game. "I talked about the opportunity they had to do something this special. History-making. 20-0, the perfect season," he said. Despite a 5-2 regular-season win over Rowland Hall, Simmons knew the talented opponent would adjust, particularly by clogging the midfield to disrupt what he calls the best midfield trio in 2A. But Maeser Prep's resilience and precision proved unstoppable, delivering a championship performance worthy of their legacy.
