In a moment that will be etched in Utah high school soccer history, Jace Rodriguez delivered the biggest goal of his already legendary career. The Ogden High School star, who has netted over 70 goals in his time as a Tiger, scored the decisive strike in the 66th minute of Monday's 3A championship game at Zions Bank Stadium, securing a 1-0 victory over Morgan and clinching the program's third consecutive state title.

"This one was way different. My last goal of my high school career," said Rodriguez, with emotion evident in his voice. "Nothing better than that three-peat. That felt good."

The win extended Ogden's remarkable winning streak to 43 games, a run that coach Todd Scott says he stopped tracking once it passed 30. For Scott, the focus has always been on the ultimate prize, and this team delivered once again.

"I've been fortunate to have just great boys, but seeing them year-round makes a big difference," Scott explained. "Being on campus and having them in class, honestly, that bond, that brotherly and family bond, is what we pride ourselves on. That's why we're able to stick together."

The championship match was a battle of attrition under brutal conditions, with temperatures on the turf soaring above 90 degrees. During a hydration break around the 60th minute, Rodriguez was subbed off as coaches worked to keep legs fresh. But the senior standout couldn't stay on the sideline for long, itching to get back into the scoreless affair.

Less than a minute after re-entering the game, Rodriguez made his presence felt. The play began on the left sideline, where Andrew Pierce nutmegged a Morgan winger, creating space to dribble forward. That move pulled the Trojans out of their defensive shape, and Pierce squared a pass to a wide-open Harry Hoskins in the middle of the field, with no defender within 10 yards.

Hoskins drove straight at Morgan's back line, drawing the attention of three teammates making runs toward the box. When a Trojan center back stepped up to slow Hoskins' advance, he slipped a perfectly weighted ball into the path of Rodriguez, who arrived first and tucked a left-footed shot into the net.

The goal was a fitting end to a championship run built on chemistry and resilience, proving once again that Ogden's dynasty is about more than just talent—it's about the unbreakable bond between players and their relentless pursuit of greatness.
