In a heart-stopping finale to the opening Supertwins/Sportbike race at the North West 200, Peter Hickman snatched victory from the grasp of Jeremy McWilliams in a classic duel that had fans on their feet. The Swan Racing Yamaha R7 rider timed his move to perfection, diving past McWilliams at the Juniper Hill chicane on the final lap of four to claim his fifth career North West win—and his third in the Twins class, following a dominant double in 2024.

The Lincolnshire ace trailed the experienced McWilliams for most of the race, but in true champion style, Hickman saved his best for last. Crossing the line just 0.46 seconds ahead, he added another chapter to what's becoming a storied rivalry in the Supertwin ranks. The pair traded paint and pushed their machines to the limit, with the lead swapping hands in a breathtaking display of road racing at its finest.

Behind the front-runners, Alastair Seeley fought off a charging Paul Jordan to secure the final podium spot. Jordan, despite a costly overshoot at University Corner on the opening lap, bounced back impressively—clocking the fastest lap of the race at 112.231 mph on his way to fourth place. Yorkshire's Jamie Coward rode a steady race to fifth on his Milenco by Padgett's Paton, while Christian Elin rounded out the top six.

This victory brings Hickman to within two wins of Richard Cooper's all-time Supertwin record of five triumphs at the North West 200. McWilliams, a three-time winner in the class himself, will no doubt be hungry for redemption when the next race rolls around. For now, though, the spotlight is firmly on Hickman—and if this race is any indicator, the Supertwin class is delivering some of the most electrifying action on the calendar.
