The Atlanta Dream's future just got a whole lot brighter. With three strategic selections in Monday night's WNBA Draft, the franchise has infused its roster with a dynamic mix of size, skill, and defensive tenacity, signaling an exciting new chapter for the team.

Leading the Dream's draft class is a player with a remarkable story and even more impressive stats. With the 13th overall pick, Atlanta selected 6'6" record-setting center Madina Okot from the University of South Carolina. Hailing from Mumias, Kenya, Okot didn't even pick up a basketball until she was 16. Just five years later, she leaves college ranked third in the nation in double-doubles and second in Gamecock history for offensive rebounds. "I couldn't be more excited," said Dream Head Coach Karl Smesko. "Her ability to crash the boards and the way she moves defensively, I think she'll be a good addition."

In the second round, the Dream added a defensive playmaker with the 28th overall pick: University of North Carolina guard Indya Nivar. Nivar made ACC history as only the fourth player ever to post a triple-double that included steals, showcasing her elite all-around game. Coach Smesko praised her aggressive style, noting, "She's high energy and gets a ton of steals. We're excited that she was available."

Rounding out the trio with the 48th overall pick is CBA Beijing guard Kejia Ran, described by the team as a "dynamic two-way guard" celebrated for her defensive versatility. This draft haul arrives on the heels of major offseason moves, including the acquisition of superstar Angel Reese, positioning the Dream as a team on the rise.

The new-look Dream will take the court for their highly anticipated season opener on May 17 at State Farm Arena, where they'll host the reigning champion Las Vegas Aces. It's the perfect opportunity to see this promising new core in action as they begin their journey in the W.
