As Vanderbilt football gears up for its annual spring game, a key showcase for the program's progress, several notable players will be watching from the sidelines. While the game offers fans a first glimpse of the team's development, managing player health remains the top priority in these preseason exhibitions.
According to a program spokesperson, the Commodores will be without a group of impact players across multiple units. The offensive side will miss running back Sedrick Alexander and wide receiver Junior Sherrill, two key skill players, along with tight end Cole Spence. On defense, the absences include defensive lineman Yilanan Ouattara, defensive end Miles Capers, safeties CJ Heard and Ricardo Jones, and cornerback Martel Hight.
While their teammates compete, these players will focus on recovery and preparation for the fall camp. Their absence opens the door for other athletes on the roster to step up and make a statement, turning the spring game into a valuable opportunity for depth chart battles and emerging talent to shine under the lights.
