With the 2026 NFL Draft now in the rearview mirror, the Minnesota Vikings' offseason roster is taking shape. While a few spots remain open—as evidenced by the recent Jauan Jennings signing—the team is clearly hunting for key contributors to round out the squad.

Let's be clear: a roster projection in early May isn't about being 100% accurate (though I'll absolutely brag if I nail it). It's about taking stock of where things stand before OTAs, minicamp, training camp, and the preseason. Plus, it's just a fun way to get fans talking about the season ahead.

Quarterback: This position might be the easiest call for now. Expect Murray to open as the starter, but McCarthy will get every chance to prove himself if he shows growth this offseason. Carson Wentz brings veteran savvy to the room, and let's be honest—he wouldn't have returned for 2026 if he didn't see a path to sticking around. Max Brosmer has potential as a developmental backup, but his 2025 performance was rough, even for an undrafted rookie. Here's a hot take: I don't think both Murray and McCarthy will be on the roster by season's end. We'll see how that plays out.

Wide Receiver: In: Justin Jefferson, Jordan Addison, Jauan Jennings, Tai Felton, Myles Price, Dillon Bell. Out: Joaquin Davis, Dontae Fleming, Jeshaun Jones, Shaleak Knotts, Marcus Sanders, Luke Wysong.

I'll go out on a limb here: I think Justin Jefferson and Jordan Addison both make the roster. Shocking, right? They form one of the league's elite duos and should continue that dominance for at least two more seasons. Jennings fills a critical need as a bigger, stronger target. Felton, a high pick in just his second season, shined on special teams and should stick. Price handled both return duties last year and will likely do so again in 2026. Keep an eye on rookie UDFA Dillon Bell—he's a gadget player who could carve out a unique role in Kevin O'Connell's offense. The Vikings don't have anyone else with his skillset.

Running Back: In: Aaron Jones, Jordan Mason, Demond Claiborne, Zavier Scott, Max Bredeson.

The Vikings haven't poured heavy resources into the running back room, which tells you they trust what they have. Jones remains the workhorse, Mason provides a solid change-of-pace, and Claiborne brings fresh legs. Scott and Bredeson round out the group with special teams value and depth.
