Even in defeat, some players manage to stand tall—and for Liverpool, that man was Dominik Szoboszlai.

Sunday's 3-2 loss at Old Trafford may have summed up a frustrating season for the Reds, but the Hungarian midfielder emerged with his reputation enhanced. So much so, in fact, that pundit Troy Deeney named him in his Premier League Team of the Week.

"Goal and assist for him at Old Trafford," Deeney said on BBC Sport. "Liverpool have been terrible all season but he comes out with his head high as one of the best around. His stock has grown in a poor season for them. He keeps coming up with big performances."

It's hard to argue with that assessment. The 25-year-old dragged Liverpool back into the game with a clinical finish, then played a key role in Cody Gakpo's equaliser, briefly swinging momentum in the visitors' favour. While the team's performance was inconsistent—particularly in a chaotic first half where they struggled to compete physically—Szoboszlai showed the energy, invention, and drive that has often been missing.

That individual brilliance, however, sits against a backdrop of wider concern. Former Red Daniel Sturridge voiced those worries after the match, saying: "It is worrying. For me, what's concerning is the consistency of the counterattacks they're conceding… The identity is not there."

Off the pitch, ongoing ticket price protests continue to highlight a disconnect between ownership and supporters, creating an atmosphere where even standout performances can feel slightly overshadowed. But for Szoboszlai, this was a reminder of the quality he brings—and a sign that, in a difficult campaign, he remains a bright spot worth celebrating.
