Greater Lansing's high school girls basketball scene is buzzing with talent, and the latest Michigan Sports Writers Division 2 all-state selections prove it. Leading the charge is Haslett's standout senior, Kaitlyn Johnson, who earned a coveted first-team spot after a phenomenal season.

Johnson was the engine for a dominant Haslett Vikings squad, showcasing a complete game that powered them to CAAC Red and district championships. The future Saginaw Valley State player nearly averaged a double-double, putting up 14.0 points and 9.7 rebounds per game while also contributing significantly in assists, steals, and blocks. Her versatility was on full display, including a remarkable 44.8% shooting from beyond the three-point arc.

She wasn't the only local star to shine. Johnson is joined by three other repeat all-state honorees, highlighting the region's consistent excellence. Owosso's dynamic guard, Danica Dwyer, landed on the second team after a record-breaking season where she averaged 21.6 points and set new school marks for single-season and single-game scoring.

Earning honorable mention nods were two more key players with bright futures. Haslett's leading scorer, Christina Dixon (a Grand Valley State signee), surpassed 1,000 career points this winter. Portland's floor general, Lilly Thelen (signed with Lake Superior State), also hit the 1,000-point milestone while steering her team to CAAC White and district titles, setting several school records for assists and three-pointers along the way.

This recognition for Johnson, Dwyer, Dixon, and Thelen is a testament to their hard work and skill, setting a high standard for basketball in Greater Lansing. Their achievements remind us that greatness on the court is built through dedication, teamwork, and a relentless drive to improve—values we celebrate every day.
