In a heartfelt tribute to two beloved amateur baseball players, the West Central Baseball Association and the Canaries joined forces to host a special fundraiser in Humboldt, South Dakota. The event honored Reed Harter and Chandler Bakley, whose lives were tragically cut short in a January crash on Interstate 90.

The day was packed with community spirit and baseball camaraderie. Young athletes got a chance to sharpen their skills at a free youth mini camp, while attendees browsed a silent auction filled with sports memorabilia and local treasures. The highlight came in the form of an exhibition game, where the Canaries faced off against a team of local amateur players, blending competition with remembrance.

"Baseball is a small world," explained event organizer Rob Lind. "I felt obligated to take an event that was already in the works and sister it with a memorial setting. It just made sense to honor their legacy through the game they loved."

The fundraiser not only celebrated the lives of Harter and Bakley but also brought the community together, reminding everyone of the powerful bonds formed on and off the diamond. For fans of the sport, it's a poignant reminder of how baseball can heal and unite, even in the face of profound loss.
