Manchester United have received a fresh setback in their pursuit of Bayern Munich star Harry Kane, with the striker reportedly making a decisive call on his future. The Red Devils have been enjoying a strong second half of the season under caretaker boss Michael Carrick, who took over in January. Currently sitting third in the Premier League table with 35 games played, United have already secured Champions League football for next season.
Much of their resurgence can be credited to a revamped attack that cost over £200 million last summer—and it's proving to be money well spent. With 63 goals scored in the league so far (the third-highest in the division), United have already surpassed last season's total of 44 goals in 38 games. Benjamin Sesko, signed from RB Leipzig, leads the scoring charts with 12 goals, but with Joshua Zirkzee's future uncertain, INEOS are eyeing further firepower up front.
According to a report from The Peoples Person, Kane remains United's dream target. The 32-year-old was one of the Premier League's most lethal finishers before leaving England in the summer of 2023, racking up 213 top-flight goals—just shy of Alan Shearer's all-time record of 260. United were linked with him then but opted to sign Rasmus Hojlund from Atalanta instead.
Since moving to the Allianz Arena, Kane has been nothing short of sensational. In 144 appearances for Bayern, he's bagged 140 goals and 33 assists, including a staggering 55 goals and seven assists in just 48 games this season. The Bavarians have already clinched the Bundesliga title, won the Franz Beckenbauer Supercup, and are heading to the DFB Pokal final.
United continue to monitor Kane's situation closely, with reports suggesting they're prepared to offer massive wages to lure him to Old Trafford. Whether that will be enough to sway the England captain remains to be seen—but for now, the Red Devils may need to look elsewhere.
