Harper Creek's baseball team is celebrating a well-deserved victory, and at the heart of it is standout player Kobe Cordova, who has been named the latest Bronson Battle Creek Athlete of the Week.

In a thrilling fan poll, Cordova edged out fellow finalists DJ Wood, Layla Huffman, and Kaylee Kirkpatrick, securing 45 percent of the vote by the Wednesday deadline. This recognition comes after his stellar performance in the All-City Baseball Tournament, where Harper Creek clinched the championship with a narrow 3-2 win over Pennfield.

Cordova was a force at the plate, going 2-for-2 with a run scored and an RBI in the title game. But his heroics didn't stop there—he also delivered the go-ahead RBI in the ninth inning of a tense 4-3 semifinal victory over Lakeview. "Kobe had a real good month of May offensively," said Harper Creek coach Jason Miller. "He's had some really key at-bats for us in big spots, including a walk-off double in a doubleheader against Marshall."

This Athlete of the Week honor, presented by Bronson Battle Creek Hospital, highlights the dedication and skill that make high school sports so exciting. Whether you're hitting the diamond or cheering from the stands, moments like these remind us why baseball is a game of clutch performances and team spirit.
