Barcelona are gearing up for a transformative summer transfer window—their first major spending spree in four years—with sights set on landing a top centre-back and a prolific centre-forward to fuel a serious Champions League push. But before they can splash the cash, the Catalan giants need to free up salary cap space, which means some tough decisions are on the horizon.

While the rumor mill has churned with potential exits—Raphinha and Fermin Lopez have been linked to big-money moves, and Marc Casado was widely tipped to leave—all three have publicly stated their desire to stay. That hasn't stopped the speculation, though, as manager Hansi Flick prepares to sit down with at least four key players for one-on-one talks about their futures at Camp Nou.

According to reports, Flick will use these meetings to gauge each player's intentions before deciding, alongside the club, how to move forward. The list includes full-backs Alejandro Balde and Jules Kounde, both of whom lost their starting spots for last Sunday's El Clasico to Eric Garcia and Joao Cancelo. Also on the docket is Swedish winger Roony Bardghji, whose path to regular minutes remains unclear, and captain Ronald Araujo, whose limited game time is partly due to a December break—though the Uruguayan is determined to stay put.

The Balde and Kounde situations are particularly intriguing. Both were automatic starters at the season's outset, but neither has hit their usual high standards this campaign. Flick acknowledged that benching Kounde for the Real Madrid clash—the first time he's been fit but left out for a big game—"was not easy" for the Frenchman. As for Balde, Flick noted he's "doing well," but the coaching staff is "working with him to improve" ahead of next season.

With Barcelona's summer rebuild hinging on these critical conversations, fans will be watching closely to see which stars stay and who might be on the move. One thing's for sure: Flick's squad-shaping decisions could define the club's trajectory for years to come.
