“It’ll be a different roster than it was this year, completely different, but we finally got over that hump,” Hidalgo said after Notre Dame's 70-52 loss in the Fort Worth Regional 1 final. And now we’re going have to get over that hump.

Notre Dame fans, get ready to see a star return to the hardwood. Hannah Hidalgo has officially announced she will be back in South Bend for her senior season, posting a photo in her Fighting Irish uniform with the powerful caption, "Run It Back."

This decision comes after a season where Hidalgo solidified herself as one of the nation's most electrifying players. Despite being named ACC Player of the Year for the second consecutive season, she was an AP second-team All-American—a slight that will undoubtedly fuel her final collegiate campaign. Her stats were nothing short of spectacular, leading all of Division I in steals (5.6 per game) and ranking third in scoring (25.2 points per game) while also averaging 6.4 rebounds and 5.3 assists.

The announcement follows Notre Dame's Elite Eight loss to UConn, a game that has clearly set the stage for next year's mission. Hidalgo acknowledged the coming changes, stating, "It’ll be a different roster than it was this year, completely different, but we finally got over that hump." She's referring to the team's breakthrough to the Elite Eight, a hurdle they had been striving to clear. Now, the goal is even higher. "We know what it feels like to get to the Elite Eight," she said. "And now we’re going to have to get over that hump."

With 481 career steals already, Hidalgo is within striking distance of the Division I record (649), held by Chastadie Barrs. Her return is massive news for the Fighting Irish, signaling a veteran leader is coming back to guide a new-look roster with one clear, unfinished objective: to chase a national championship.
