New York Giants legend and Hall of Fame linebacker Lawrence Taylor is back on his feet—and already eyeing a return to the golf course.

The 67-year-old NFL icon was released from Morristown Medical Center in New Jersey on Tuesday after a four-day stay for a stomach-related issue, according to his attorney, Mark Eiglarsh. Taylor is now heading home to Florida to continue his recovery.

"He is grateful to now be on the road to recovery and hopes to be back on the golf course soon," Eiglarsh said, adding that Taylor expressed heartfelt thanks to the hospital staff who cared for him.

In a statement, Taylor also acknowledged the overwhelming support from fans. "Knowing that so many people were thinking of him and praying for his recovery gave him strength and helped carry him through a very challenging time," Eiglarsh shared.

For football fans, Taylor's name is synonymous with greatness. He spent his entire 13-season NFL career with the New York Giants from 1981 to 1993, helping the team capture two Super Bowl titles. An eight-time AP All-Pro selection and the 1986 NFL MVP, Taylor's No. 56 jersey is retired by the Giants. He was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in Canton, Ohio, in 1999—a testament to his game-changing impact as a linebacker.

Off the field, Taylor's life has seen its share of challenges. In 2011, he pleaded guilty to misdemeanor charges of sexual misconduct and patronizing an underage prostitute in New York, receiving six years of probation and a requirement to register as a sex offender. More recently, in 2021 and 2024, he faced charges in Florida for failing to update his address on the state's sex offender registry.

For now, though, the focus is on recovery—and getting back to the fairways. As any sports fan knows, few competitors have shown the resilience of Lawrence Taylor, both on the gridiron and in life.
