The Hagerstown Flying Boxcars hit the field for a thrilling week of Atlantic League action from May 12 through May 17, taking on the Southern Maryland Blue Crabs in a series that had fans on the edge of their seats. The week kicked off with a home opener at Meritus Park that was nothing short of electric, as local hero Jared Carr—a Saint James School grad and Martinsburg, W.Va., native—stepped to the plate for the first time. Carr worked a walk, setting the tone for a night full of promise.

Before the first pitch, Hagerstown Mayor Bill McIntire fired a ceremonial throw to the mound, officially welcoming the Flying Boxcars back to town. On the hill, starter DJ Johnson took the ball for Hagerstown, looking to quiet the Blue Crabs' bats early. But the visitors came out swinging, with York's Nick Dunn crushing a three-run homer in the first inning that sent shockwaves through the park.

Not to be outdone, Hagerstown's Tyler Williams answered with a leadoff double in the bottom half, later crossing the plate to keep the game within reach. The crowd roared as the Flying Boxcars' mascot, Stryker, made his debut, hyping up the stands during the middle of the first. Despite the early deficit, the Boxcars showed grit, battling back with timely hits and solid defense. The week's action was a rollercoaster of momentum shifts, with each game adding new drama to the Atlantic League standings. For fans of the Flying Boxcars, this was a week to remember—and a sign of exciting baseball ahead at Meritus Park.
