Guernsey Cricket has announced a seasoned 14-man squad for their upcoming T20 World Cup qualifying campaign in Cyprus, and there's plenty of reason for fans to feel optimistic.

Skipper Ollie Nightingale will lead a side packed with experience, with 11 of the 14 players having been part of the squad that reached the final round of European qualifying for the 2026 T20 World Cup last summer. That run was a historic achievement for the island nation, and now they're looking to build on that momentum.

The tournament, Europe Sub-regional Qualifier A, kicks off this weekend and features 10 teams battling for a spot in the final round of European qualifying next year. Guernsey finds themselves in a competitive pool alongside Austria, Malta, Slovenia, and Sweden. Only the group winner will advance to the final, where they'll face the winner of the other pool—which includes their Channel Island rivals, Jersey. Yes, that means a potential island showdown is on the horizon.

Head coach and selectors have made a few changes from the last international tournament, bringing in Lucas Barker, Oliver Clapham, and Ed Robinson. They replace Ben Fitchet, Harry Johnson, and Anthony Stokes. But the core of the squad remains strong, with seasoned campaigners like Adam Martel, Ben Ferbrache, Zak Damarell, and Josh Butler all included. These are players who know what it takes to compete at this level.

Guernsey's campaign begins on Saturday, 16th May, with their first qualifier against Sweden. It's a crucial opening match—set the tone early, and the path to the final round becomes much clearer. For a team that's already made history by reaching that stage once, the goal is simple: do it again.

Full Squad: Lucas Barker, Luke Bichard, Martin-Dale Bradley, Alex Bushell, Josh Butler, Oliver Clapham, Zak Damarell, Ben Ferbrache, Charlie Forshaw, Adam Martel, Ollie Nightingale (capt), Tom Nightingale, Ed Robinson, Matt Stokes.
