The Cleveland Guardians' infield has undergone a sudden shift. On Tuesday, the club placed utility man Gabriel Arias on the 10-day injured list with a strained left hamstring, an injury sustained while running the bases during Monday night's game.

This development opens the door for a highly anticipated debut. To fill the roster spot, the Guardians have called up infield prospect Juan Brito from Triple-A Columbus. Brito, batting sixth and starting at second base, will make his first major league appearance in Tuesday's afternoon contest against the Kansas City Royals.

For Brito, this moment has been a long time coming. After an injury-shortened 2023 season limited him to just 31 games, the switch-hitter impressed early at Columbus this year, going 11-for-35 with five doubles. While Brito has played mostly third base in the minors, Vogt indicated he will primarily handle second base during Arias's absence.
