As the Guardians prepare to face their former manager, they're sticking with the "Cincinnati isn't in Ohio" rhetoric.

The Cleveland Guardians are keeping the friendly fire alive. As they prepare to host the Cincinnati Reds for a three-game series at Progressive Field (May 15-17), the Guardians have doubled down on their running joke: "Cincinnati isn't in Ohio."

In a new video posted to the team's official social media channels, several Guardians players playfully claim they believe Cincinnati is actually located somewhere in Kentucky. The caption reads: "The Reds come back in state this weekend."

This isn't the first time these two in-state rivals have traded jabs. Back in May 2025, the Reds got the last laugh after sweeping the Guardians at Great American Ball Park. Cincinnati's social media team posted a photo of a T-shirt reading "Got swept in Cincinnati, OH," with the cheeky caption: "Y'all want some new shirts, @CleGuardians?"

The back-and-forth dates back to September 2024, when the Guardians first stirred the pot by editing "Cincinnati is in Kentucky" onto celebratory team shirts after a win over the Reds. Now, as these two Ohio clubs prepare to clash once more, the rivalry is heating up both on and off the field.

Whether you're Team Ohio or Team Kentucky, one thing's for sure: this series is shaping up to be must-watch baseball with a side of good-natured trash talk.
