The Cleveland Guardians are keeping the humor alive as they prepare to host the Cincinnati Reds for a three-game series from May 15-17 at Progressive Field. In a playful new post on the team's official Twitter/X account, the Guardians are doubling down on their "Cincinnati isn't in Ohio" rhetoric, featuring a video where several players jokingly claim that Cincinnati is actually somewhere in Kentucky.
"The Reds come back in state this weekend," reads the caption, adding fuel to a friendly rivalry that has been brewing between the two Ohio-based teams.
This isn't the first time the Guardians have stirred the pot. Back in September 2024, the team shared an edited photo of players celebrating a win over the Reds, with "Cincinnati is in Kentucky" printed on their shirts. The Reds, however, didn't let the jab slide. In May 2025, after sweeping the Guardians in a three-game series at Great American Ball Park, Cincinnati's official account tweeted a photo of a T-shirt reading "Got swept in Cincinnati, OH," with the caption, "Y'all want some new shirts, @CleGuardians?"
As the Guardians prepare to face their former manager and the Reds in this next chapter of the rivalry, fans can expect some heated on-field action—and maybe a few more clever digs off it. Whether you're repping the Guardians or the Reds, this series is a perfect excuse to gear up and show your Ohio (or Kentucky?) pride.
