Philadelphia 76ers star center Joel Embiid is listed as doubtful for the team's Eastern Conference first-round Game 3 vs. the Boston Celtics on Friday night.
It doesn't sound like the Celtics expect him to suit up for the contest.
"Payton Pritchard on Joel Embiid, who’s doubtful for Game 3 tonight, potentially playing in this series: 'If he plays, he plays, we’ll figure that out, but it’s not like we’re sitting here worried if he’s playing or not.'" Celtics reporter Bobby Krivitsky posted on Bluesky.
"We haven’t even game-planned for him yet. So we’re focused on who we’re playing," Pritchard added, according to a report by MassLive.com's Souichi Terada.
Embiid missed the first two games of the series vs. Boston following his recent appendectomy but participated in parts of Thursday's practice for the first time since the April 9 procedure.
The Celtics and 76ers are scheduled to tip off Game 3 at 7 p.m. ET Friday in Philadelphia.
