In a thrilling pitcher's duel that kept fans on the edge of their seats, the Chicago White Sox snatched a dramatic 2-1 victory over the Seattle Mariners on Sunday, thanks to a clutch eighth-inning rally that turned the game on its head.

The hero of the hour was Randal Grichuk, who launched a 377-foot solo homer over the right field wall to tie the game at 1-1. The momentum didn't stop there. Moments later, Drew Romo showcased his baseball IQ, tagging up on Miguel Vargas' fly ball to left fielder Randy Arozarena. Arozarena's throw sailed home, allowing Romo to score the go-ahead run and put the White Sox in front.

The ninth inning brought a heart-stopping moment for Chicago fans. The Mariners strung together back-to-back singles, and reliever Seranthony Domínguez walked Rob Refsnyder to load the bases with nobody out. But Domínguez showed nerves of steel, escaping the jam without allowing a run to secure his ninth save of the season.

White Sox starter Davis Martin was sharp, allowing just one run on three hits over six strong innings. Bryan Hudson (1-0) picked up his first win of the year after a scoreless eighth inning. The Mariners' lone run came in the first when Julio Rodríguez scored on a fielding error by left fielder Tristan Peters.

On the other side, Seattle starter Logan Gilbert was electric, striking out nine batters over six innings while surrendering just one hit. But the bullpen couldn't hold the lead, with Eduard Bazardo (2-2) taking the loss after giving up two hits and two runs in the eighth.

Looking ahead, the Mariners will travel to Houston to begin a four-game series on Monday, with right-hander George Kirby (4-2, 2.94 ERA) taking the mound against Astros righty Peter Lambert (2-2, 2.42 ERA). Meanwhile, the White Sox will head to Kansas City on Tuesday, where right-hander Erick Fedde (0-4, 3.79 ERA) will look to get his season on track against a Royals team that has yet to name a starter.
