Augsburg kept their European dreams alive with a commanding 3-1 victory over Borussia Mönchengladbach at the WWK-Arena, thanks to a stellar double from Michael Gregoritsch and a standout performance from Robin Fellhauer.

Playing their final home match of the season, Augsburg came out with purpose and intensity, determined to reward their passionate fans while keeping the pressure on in the race for a European spot. From the first whistle, it was clear the hosts meant business.

The breakthrough came in the 24th minute, and it was a thing of beauty. A clever through ball down the left flank found substitute Robin Fellhauer, who showed remarkable composure. Instead of shooting, he unselfishly squared the ball across goal, leaving Gregoritsch with the simplest of finishes to tap into an empty net. 1-0 Augsburg, and the crowd erupted.

Just four minutes later, the stadium roared again as Gregoritsch found the net once more, but VAR had other ideas. A marginal offside call against the Austrian striker denied Augsburg a quickfire double, leaving the home fans momentarily deflated.

But they wouldn't have to wait long. Three minutes before halftime, Augsburg struck again, and this time there was no controversy. Fellhauer was once again at the heart of the action, as Mert Kömür won possession high up the pitch and fed the overlapping wing-back. Fellhauer kept his cool brilliantly, slotting past Moritz Nicolas to make it 2-0 heading into the break. It was a goal that perfectly capped a miserable opening 45 minutes for Gladbach, who never found their rhythm and were second best all over the pitch.

The second half followed a similar pattern. Aside from a nervy moment early on when Fellhauer nearly turned a Wael Mohya cross into his own net, Gladbach offered little going forward. Augsburg remained firmly in control, and by the hour mark, the visitors had managed just a single shot on target compared to the hosts' eight.

Augsburg thought they had a third when Fellhauer was again denied by the offside flag, but the decisive blow finally came in the 72nd minute. Kömür's low strike from distance was only parried by Nicolas straight into the path of Gregoritsch, who reacted quickest to slot home his second of the night and seal the three points. A late consolation from Rocco Reitz was nothing more than a footnote as Augsburg celebrated a vital victory that keeps their European hopes very much alive.
