The Greenbrier Wolfpack girls' soccer team is writing a thrilling postseason story, and their latest chapter was a heart-stopper. As the number one seed, they hosted the Johns Creek Gladiators with a trip to the Elite Eight on the line—and they delivered a classic for the home crowd.

The game was a back-and-forth battle from the start. Late in the second half, the Wolfpack clung to a 3-2 lead, but Johns Creek refused to back down. A pivotal moment came when Greenbrier's Bayleigh Robinson was tripped inside the 18-yard box, earning a penalty kick. With the game on the line, she stepped up and calmly slotted the ball into the back right of the net, tying it 3-3 and sending the match into overtime.

With two ten-minute halves ahead, the tension was palpable. Then, in a flash of brilliance, Aaliyah Silver delivered a perfect cross to Madelyn Heckathorn, who applied a delicate touch to guide the ball into the net. The goal sparked a wild celebration as teammates mobbed Heckathorn on the pitch, giving Greenbrier a 4-3 lead that would hold until the final whistle.

Reflecting on the dramatic win, Heckathorn captured the team's fighting spirit: "It was a really tough game. A lot of quick goals back and forth, but when it got into overtime, I just knew that it was about fight. That’s what I told the girls, it’s all about fight, and who wants it more. At that moment, I just knew that everything it took to get that goal, I had to give it all I got."

The Wolfpack now turn their attention to next week's Elite Eight matchup, where they'll host Lassiter at home. With momentum on their side and a win like this under their belts, Greenbrier is proving they have the grit and skill to make a deep playoff run.
