As we’re winding down this series, we still have to hit arguably the most important position for the Green Bay Packers in the 2026 draft: cornerback. The position has hit several hitches over the years, in part due to players like Kevin King busting and injuries to promising players like Jaire Alexander and Eric Stokes.
But fans, clearly, want the team to invest in the position, even though the Packers don’t have a first-round selection. Let’s take you through where Green Bay’s depth chart stands today and what could be available to the team on draft weekend.
I’m assuming that Bo Melton is moving back to the offensive side, since we’ve never seen him take a snap on the defensive side of the ball in a meaningful game, while he did get on the field as an offensive player in 2025. As of now, the Packers will probably have Carrington Valentine and Benjamin St-Juste battle it out for the CB2 spot opposite of Keisean Nixon going into 2026, with the possibility of a rookie (or two) entering the mix.
The team also just released Tyron Herring, leaving them with just six players at the position. There’s plenty of opportunity for the Packers to add rookies or post-draft free agents at the position. Kamal Hadden’s injury situation should be resolved by around minicamp, but he’s currently CB4 on the team, following the release of Nate Hobbs for cap purposes this offseason. Jaylin Simpson, a combo corner-safety who spent 2025 on the practice squad, would be CB5.
#127: Will Lee III, Texas A&M (pre-draft visitor)
#160: Charles Demmings, Stephen F. Austin (pre-draft visitor)
The Packers probably won’t target the likes of D’angelo Ponds, Keith Abney II or Chandler Rivers, due to their size, but there are plenty of cornerbacks that should be able to come in and push the likes of Valentine and St-Juste in 2026. To me, after studying the majority of the top-150 prospects in this class, I truly believe cornerback is the deepest position in this class from the 2nd to 5th round range. I can absolutely see the Packers looking to double-dip at the position, considering the only cornerback they have under contract for the 2027 season right now is St-Juste.
Green Bay has brought in two players for pre-draft visits: Texas A&M’s Will Lee III and Stephen F. Austin’s Charles Demmings. Lee is a great fit for the Jonathan Gannon scheme, as he’s a good click-and-close cornerback who can run better than his 40-yard dash suggests. Demmings, meanwhile, is a longer cornerback who is one of the premier small-school products in a transfer-heavy era.
If we’re just listing names that I like, I’m a fan of Ohio State’s Davison Igbinosun, Texas’ Malik Muhammad, Florida’s Devin Moore, Georgia’s Daylen Everette and Alabama’s Domani Jackson at their consensus rankings.
