The St. Louis Battlehawks are set to turn back the clock this Friday night, reuniting members of one of the NFL's most iconic offenses—the Greatest Show on Turf—at the very stadium where they made history.
Several legends from the St. Louis Rams' Super Bowl XXXIV championship team will be honored during the UFL game at The Dome at America's Center (formerly the Edward Jones Dome). Headlining the reunion are Hall of Fame running back Marshall Faulk, legendary head coach Dick Vermeil, offensive mastermind Mike Martz, and Super Bowl hero Mike Jones—whose game-saving tackle sealed the Rams' victory. Also joining them are offensive linemen Adam Timmerman, Tom Nutten, and Andy McCollum.
Two familiar faces will already be on the sidelines: Ricky Proehl and Jeff Zgonina, both members of the Battlehawks' coaching staff. Proehl, a key receiver on those Rams teams, spoke about the enduring bond between the championship squad. "We're close. We have a group chat. We're a family," Proehl told STLPR.org. "There's so much love for each other, and respect, and to have them come support us, it just shows you what kind of football team and the culture we had back in '99."
The timing couldn't be better for the Battlehawks, who enter Friday's matchup against the Columbus Aviators with a 4-2 record, eyeing their third straight playoff appearance. The team hopes the presence of these gridiron greats will not only spark a high-scoring offensive performance but also reignite the passion of local fans who packed the Dome during those unforgettable seasons.
For those who remember, the Greatest Show on Turf—led by Kurt Warner, Isaac Bruce, Torry Holt, and Faulk—was a juggernaut. They won Super Bowl XXXIV in 1999, returned to the big game in 2001, and led the NFL in both points scored and total yards for three consecutive seasons. Their return to St. Louis is a celebration of that golden era, one that still resonates with football fans everywhere.
