Grayson Rodriguez is finally ready to take the mound in an Angels uniform—and it couldn't come at a bigger moment. The right-handed pitcher is set to make his Los Angeles Angels debut this Sunday in the series finale against the crosstown rival Los Angeles Dodgers, giving fans a glimpse of what could be a key piece of the rotation for years to come.

The Angels also made a roster move ahead of Friday's series opener, activating catcher Logan O'Hoppe to bolster the lineup behind the plate.

Rodriguez's last MLB appearance came on July 31, 2024, while he was still with the Baltimore Orioles. Since then, it's been a long road back. He missed the entire 2025 season due to an elbow injury, eventually undergoing right elbow debridement surgery in August 2025 to remove bone spurs. Just three months later, the Orioles traded him to the Angels in exchange for outfielder Taylor Ward—a move that signaled the Angels' intent to build around young, high-upside arms.

Spring training offered some promise, with Rodriguez making four starts and posting a 4.97 ERA with 12 strikeouts over 12.2 innings. But shoulder inflammation forced him to open the season on the 15-day injured list, delaying his debut even further.

Now, after two minor-league rehab starts, Rodriguez appears ready. His last outing with Single-A Rancho Cucamonga was particularly electric: he struck out 11 batters in just 4.2 innings, showcasing the kind of swing-and-miss stuff that made him a top prospect. Over both rehab starts, he posted a 2.79 ERA with 18 strikeouts across 9.2 innings.

Sunday's matchup against the Dodgers will be a true test—and a statement opportunity. For Angels fans, it's a chance to see a pitcher who could be a cornerstone of the rotation finally take the stage.
