The Gophers football program continues to build for the future, securing a commitment from Omaha, Neb., safety Wyatt Liebentritt on Friday. The three-star defensive back announced his decision on social media, writing, "After a lot of thought and prayer, I'm excited to announce that I've officially committed to the University of Minnesota. Grateful for everyone who has helped me along the way."

Liebentritt, who plays for Scutt Catholic, is ranked as the fourth-best prospect in Nebraska for the 2027 class. Despite his in-state talent, he didn't receive an offer from the Nebraska Cornhuskers, but he did attract attention from Iowa State, North Dakota State, and South Dakota State. His versatility on the field is evident—he played both offense and defense in high school, and he also showcased his athleticism at the Nebraska state track and field meet, competing in huddle events and the triple jump.

This commitment brings the Gophers' 2027 recruiting class to 11 total pledges, with Liebentritt marking the first defensive back in the group. As Minnesota looks to shore up its secondary, adding a player of his caliber early in the cycle is a promising step for head coach P.J. Fleck and his staff.
