Big blow for the Motor City: the Detroit Tigers have placed second baseman Gleyber Torres on the 10-day injured list due to a left oblique strain. The injury occurred during a 5-1 victory over the Texas Rangers when Torres was thrown out at home plate while attempting to score from second base on Riley Greene's single. He exited the game after just three innings.

This isn't Torres' first battle with this type of injury. The three-time All-Star missed 10 games early last season with the same left oblique strain, making this a concerning déjà vu for Tigers fans. So far this season, Torres has been a steady presence at the plate, batting .259 with two home runs, 11 RBIs, and a team-leading 25 walks.

To fill the roster gap, the Tigers have recalled infielder Jace Jung from Triple-A Toledo. Jung made his return to the majors by starting as the designated hitter against Boston, batting ninth in the lineup. He previously hit .250 in two big-league games earlier this season.
