Driver survives chaotic conditions to claim second victory of the season.

In a day full of chaos and unpredictability, Dallas Glenn emerged victorious at the NHRA Southern Nationals, securing his second win of the season and the 23rd of his career. But this wasn't your typical trip to the winner's circle—Glenn himself called it "the weirdest elimination day of Pro Stock car I can remember."

Glenn defeated Troy Coughlin Jr. in the final round with a 6.642-second pass at 211.39 mph, but the road to victory was anything but smooth. "It's a combination of the track not quite being what we're used to, and the air being really good," Glenn explained. "It was not a good day to be a crew chief."

Starting from the ninth qualifying spot, Glenn had to stay sharp in every round. Experience proved crucial, as he relied on his deep knowledge of the car's transmission and handling to navigate the tricky conditions. "Luck definitely played a role today," he admitted, noting that a clean run from any opponent would have sent him home.

The track conditions were so challenging that Glenn felt like he was rolling loaded dice every time he approached the starting line. Of his seven runs, only two were "halfway decent." The lack of trust in his car was unsettling: "Every single run we just physically could not take enough out of it, or we had too much out of it and the car just doesn't want to act right."

Saturday's rain was likely a major factor, but Glenn also believes the team should have tested more at the track. The tree felt looser than at recent races, and adjustments to gearing and launch made things even tougher. In the final, Glenn staged almost a full car width out of the groove—a testament to just how wild the day really was.

While the Southern Nationals may go down as one of the strangest races in Pro Stock history, Glenn's ability to adapt and survive under pressure is exactly what champions are made of. For fans of the sport, it's a reminder that sometimes winning isn't about being the fastest—it's about being the smartest when everything goes sideways.
