In a spectacular display of batting firepower, Glamorgan women clinched a thrilling 40-run victory over Kent in the MetroBank One Day Cup at Beckenham, thanks to centuries from Daisy Jeanes and Megan McColl that powered their team to a record total of 354-7.
Opening batter Jeanes set the tone with a blistering 110 off just 84 balls, smashing 13 fours and two sixes. But the real fireworks came from Scotland international McColl, who—in only her second appearance for Glamorgan—stole the show with an unbeaten 111, anchoring the innings from number six. The duo's heroics helped Glamorgan post their highest-ever team score in the competition, leaving Kent with a daunting chase.
Kent, however, refused to go quietly. Opener Coco Streets led the charge with a composed 89, while Elsa Barnfather launched a dramatic counterattack, racing to 70 off just 39 balls, including four towering sixes. Together with Lucy King (46 off 42), Barnfather added 104 runs in just 11 overs, keeping the home side's hopes alive.
But Glamorgan's bowlers held their nerve when it mattered most. Katy Cobb delivered a crucial spell, claiming 3-49, while Blaze loanee Amy Wheeler chipped in with key wickets, including Barnfather's. A sharp run-out and two more wickets from Cobb in the closing stages wrapped up Kent's innings at 314 in the 47.5th over.
The win marks Glamorgan's fourth consecutive victory in the One Day Cup, a run that has them firmly on track for promotion to Tier One in 2027. For fans of the women's game, this was a masterclass in resilience and big-match temperament—qualities that translate perfectly to the pitch, whether you're playing or just gearing up in your favorite cricket kit.
