On a warm April afternoon, the courts at FVCC were all Wolfpack territory. Glacier Tennis delivered a commanding statement against crosstown rival Flathead, with both the boys' and girls' squads securing decisive 7-1 dual victories.
Coach Josh Munro praised his team's all-around performance. "I thought we played some solid tennis," he said. "Our doubles teams really took control at the net, and our singles players grinded out some tough points and found their range." That range was on full display, as Glacier's doubles teams went a perfect 8-0 on the day.
The girls' doubles were particularly dominant, with three pairings winning their matches 6-0, 6-0. The top duo of Miley Fritz and Reid Sanders set the tone with a 6-1, 6-1 win over Flathead's Nina Parris and Sienna Blanchard. In singles, Leilani Lennarz secured a solid 6-2, 6-3 victory over Sara Loran. Flathead's Allie Goff provided a bright spot for her team, besting Clara Norick 6-2, 6-3 for their lone win.
Despite the scoreline, Flathead coach Kaitlyn Schelbert highlighted the growth and positive spirit of her young team. "Lots of new faces out there... I think we are getting used to playing matches, and there’s lots of smiles and we are having fun," she said.
The boys' competition featured one of the matches of the day. Glacier's Colton Mantovani and Flathead's Rowan Alexander battled through three sets, with Mantovani ultimately prevailing 6-3, 2-6, 6-1. Coach Munro noted the leadership of the junior transfer, saying he "comes in at a good time where we did not have a lot of returning leaders, so he is able to step in and fill that role." Flathead's Storm Lister earned a hard-fought 6-4, 6-4 win over Gavin Pyron for his team's sole victory.
This clean sweep underscores Glacier's depth and teamwork, a perfect blend of net dominance in doubles and resilient grinding in singles—a winning formula for any tennis program.
