In a thrilling Western AA baseball showdown at Griffin Field, the Glacier Wolfpack roared back from an early deficit to defeat the previously first-place Missoula Big Sky Eagles 7-4 on Saturday. The game, a makeup of an earlier rainout, showcased the resilience and clutch hitting that defines championship-caliber baseball.
After Missoula Big Sky (10-4 overall, 6-3 in league) jumped to a 3-0 lead in the top of the third inning on Remington Howard's two-run double, Glacier (10-5, 5-3) refused to back down. The Wolfpack answered emphatically in the bottom half, scoring four runs—all with two outs. Beau Schulz ignited the rally with a two-run double, and pinch-runner Zach Huff tied the game at three as part of a perfectly executed double steal. Max Weber then drew a walk, setting the stage for Kyler Croft, who delivered the go-ahead RBI single to put Glacier ahead for good.
Kaiden Kahler was the story on the mound, tossing four dominant innings of relief. He allowed just three hits and one walk while striking out two, keeping the Eagles' potent offense in check. Kahler also contributed at the plate, adding a two-out RBI single in the fourth inning to extend the lead.
The Wolfpack's offense stayed hot in the sixth, stringing together four consecutive singles. Ryne Gillette's base hit drove in Tate Kahler for a 6-3 advantage, and Teagan Dixon later scored on a wild pitch to make it 7-3. Missoula Big Sky managed a run in the seventh on an RBI single by Ethan Paugh, but Kahler closed the door to secure the victory.
Glacier's balanced attack saw Kaiden Kahler go 3-for-4 at the plate, while Croft and Schulz each drove in two runs. The Wolfpack will look to build on this momentum when they host Missoula Sentinel on Thursday at Griffin Field, with first pitch scheduled for 5 p.m.
For fans of high school baseball, this comeback win is a reminder that every pitch matters—and that the right gear can help you perform at your best when the pressure is on.
