Girona B's impressive season came to a bittersweet close as they fell 4-2 to CD Castellón B on the road, ending their campaign on a losing note despite a spirited second-half rally.
The match got off to a tough start for the visitors, with Castellón B striking early and often. In the 10th minute, Nico Font capitalized on a well-crafted attacking move to put the hosts ahead. Girona B tried to settle into a rhythm with possession, but Castellón B proved clinical in both boxes. Carlos Segura doubled the lead in the 31st minute, and right before the halftime whistle, Nico Font struck again in the 43rd minute, sending the home side into the break with a commanding 3-0 advantage.
But Girona B showed their fighting spirit coming out of the tunnel. They emerged with renewed energy and purpose in the second half. Shin pulled one back in the 47th minute, and just four minutes later, Mario made it 3-2, igniting hopes of a dramatic comeback. The visitors were now pressing high and dictating play, looking every bit like a team that could snatch an equalizer.
However, just when momentum seemed to be swinging their way, Castellón B held firm. In the 84th minute, Miguelón scored to make it 4-2, crushing any remaining hopes of a late rally for the red-and-white side.
Despite this defeat, Girona B can hold their heads high after a stellar season. They finish in seventh place in the Segunda RFEF—a strong showing for the reserve team that showcased plenty of promise and resilience throughout the campaign. For a squad that represents the future of the club, this season was a valuable building block, even if the final chapter didn't end with a victory.
