Gina Carano is turning heads long before she steps into the ring. The former MMA star and actress recently stunned fans by revealing a remarkable 100-pound weight loss, sharing a confident photo of herself in a nude bikini. The milestone comes just ahead of her blockbuster Netflix fight against Ronda Rousey, scheduled for May 16.
In a raw and emotional post on X, Carano opened up about the grueling journey behind the transformation. "I just weighed in at 141.4 lbs. Since September 2024 to today, May 15, 2026, I have lost 100lbs," she wrote. "It hurts to say that and share, but I am going to share it because I worked so damn hard every week for over a year and a half. It did not happen overnight."
The 43-year-old athlete, known for her pioneering role in women's MMA, revealed that the upcoming fight with Rousey was the driving force behind her dramatic change. "If it wasn't for having this incredibly challenging goal in fighting Ronda Rousey, I most definitely wouldn't have reached this," she admitted. Beyond the ring, Carano faced serious health struggles, including being pre-diabetic and having difficulty walking as recently as 2024. "I have been on the path to recovery to turn myself back into an athlete since then. It was hard—SO damn hard. There was so much to learn, ups, downs, plateaus, and trial by error. But I did it."
In a gracious nod to her opponent, Carano thanked Rousey for "patiently waiting while I lost this weight." She also expressed gratitude to her husband and family for their unwavering support, adding that she's eager to continue learning about health and transforming her body.
This fight marks a historic moment for both fighters, who were once the faces of women's MMA before taking different paths. Carano's weight loss journey, which she describes as "vulnerable" and hard-fought, adds a deeply personal chapter to their rivalry. For fans and fitness enthusiasts alike, her story is a powerful reminder that transformation is possible with discipline, patience, and a goal worth fighting for.
