The New York Giants have officially locked in another piece of their future, signing second-round cornerback Colton Hood to his rookie contract. Hood, selected in last month's NFL Draft, inked a four-year deal on Tuesday, solidifying his spot in the team's defensive backfield.

Hood's arrival adds depth and promise to a Giants secondary that's always looking to make game-changing plays. At Tennessee last season, the cornerback put up impressive numbers: 50 tackles, 4.5 tackles for loss, an interception returned for a touchdown, a fumble recovery for a touchdown, and a forced fumble. That kind of versatility—especially the ability to find the end zone on defense—is exactly what fans love to see in a rising star.

Interestingly, Hood was projected by many analysts as a first-round talent, but he slipped to Day 2. He was even in attendance for the draft's opening night in Pittsburgh, watching as his name wasn't called. Now, with his rookie deal signed, he's ready to prove he was a steal for the Giants.

With Hood's signing, five of the Giants' seven draft picks are now under contract. The only two unsigned rookies are first-round selections Arvell Reese and Francis Mauigoa. As training camp approaches, all eyes will be on those two to complete the class—but for now, fans can celebrate another young Giant officially joining the squad.
