The San Francisco Giants are off to a rocky start in Tony Vitello's first season at the helm, stumbling to an 18-24 record through early May. While recent wins against the Los Angeles Dodgers and Pittsburgh Pirates offer a glimmer of hope, the possibility of selling at the trade deadline is becoming very real.
According to Robert Murray of Fansided.com, pitchers Robbie Ray and Tyler Mahle are expected to draw significant interest if the Giants decide to sell. However, a different name has emerged as an intriguing trade target: Gold Glove outfielder Harrison Bader, who is playing on a $20.5 million two-year deal.
"Another name that could be of interest is Harrison Bader," Murray reports. "That defense and the spark he provided to the Phillies' lineup in 2025 should have contending teams checking to see what it'll take to acquire the 10-year veteran."
Bader might be one of the Giants' most valuable trade assets—and for good reason. While the spotlight is on Ray, Mahle, or even stars like Willy Adames, Matt Chapman, and Rafael Devers, Bader offers a unique blend of elite defense and proven postseason spark. Under club control through 2027 on a very reasonable contract, he's an attractive option for any team needing outfield help.
His success after being traded from the Minnesota Twins to the Philadelphia Phillies in 2025 showed he can thrive in a new environment quickly—a quality that makes him stand out at this year's deadline. For the Giants, moving Bader would make sense as they look to reshape their roster. For contenders, he could be the missing piece for a deep playoff run.
