The New York Giants are riding a wave of optimism heading into the 2026 season, and for good reason. Since hiring John Harbaugh as their new head coach, the team has been on an upward trajectory that reached new heights during last month's draft. With two top-10 picks, the Giants added some serious firepower, selecting edge rusher Arvell Reese and offensive lineman Francis Mauigoa—a massive 6-foot-5, 329-pound presence who's set to make an immediate impact.
Mauigoa will start his NFL career at right guard, lining up next to the recently re-signed Jermaine Eluemunor at right tackle. And with left tackle Andrew Thomas, left guard Jon Runyan Jr., and center John Michael Schmitz all returning, Eluemunor believes this unit has the potential to be something special. "I feel like our offensive line can be a top-10 line," Eluemunor told the New York Post, and it's hard to argue with that confidence.
Mauigoa, who played tackle at Miami, is expected to eventually shift back to the outside once Eluemunor's time in New York is done. But Eluemunor isn't ready to hand over the keys just yet. "I'm right in the middle of my career," he says, and he's eager to mentor the rookie while also proving he's still a cornerstone of this line. For a franchise that has endured more than a decade of losing, the immediate results could be the turning point they've been waiting for.
