New York Giants legend and Pro Football Hall of Famer Lawrence Taylor is heading home after a hospital stay. The 67-year-old linebacker was released on Tuesday, his attorney Mark Eiglarsh confirmed to the Associated Press.

Taylor was admitted to a hospital in Morristown, New Jersey, on April 20 with what Eiglarsh described as a "stomach-related issue" that was not considered life-threatening. Now, after receiving treatment, Taylor is reportedly on his way back to Florida to continue his recovery.

"He is grateful to now be on the road to recovery and hopes to be back on the golf course soon," Eiglarsh said in a statement. "Mr. Taylor would also like to sincerely thank everyone for the outpouring of love, support and prayers. Knowing that so many people were thinking of him and praying for his recovery gave him strength and helped carry him through a very challenging time."

Taylor is best remembered for his dominant 13-year career with the New York Giants, where he redefined the linebacker position. Selected with the No. 2 overall pick in the 1981 NFL Draft out of North Carolina, he quickly became a force to be reckoned with.

Over his career, Taylor amassed 142 sacks, recording double-digit sacks in seven different seasons. His peak came in 1986, when he posted 20.5 sacks, won NFL MVP, and claimed his third NFL Defensive Player of the Year award—a feat he also achieved in his first two seasons. A 10-time All-Pro selection, Taylor helped the Giants capture two Super Bowl titles: a victory over the Denver Broncos in the 1986 season and another over the Buffalo Bills to close the 1990 campaign.

Taylor still ranks ninth all-time in career sacks. The Giants retired his iconic No. 56 jersey, and he was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1999. While his on-field accomplishments are legendary, his legacy has also been shaped by off-field controversies, including a 2011 arrest and guilty plea to misdemeanor sexual misconduct charges in New York.
